Metal roofs can be installed over existing asphalt shingle roofs with no more than two existing layers of current shingles. Roofing felt or a synthetic underlayment is used between the metal roof and the shingles or roof sheathing.
All metal roofs require additional color matched trim. The trim typically consists of ridge cap, drip/eave edge, valley, gable/rake edge and hip (if applicable). Metal shingles may also require additional trim pieces depending on the style and manufacturer chosen.
Most manufacturers offer many different color options and a 25 to 50 year warranty.

Vertical Panel roofing with exposed fasteners is one of the common types of metal roofing. It has been popular in the commercial and industrial market for many years.
Recent advances in technology have helped this economical style of metal roofing become especially popular in the residential market for new homes and for replacement roofing.
The fasteners (screws) that are used to secure the metal roofing are color matched to the roof color, capped and have a neoprene washer to help prevent leaks.

Standing seam metal panels offer a very clean look due to their fastening systems being hidden from view.
Typical panels range from 12 inches in width to 16 inches and have seams (legs) of 1 inch to 1 ½ inches high. Other sizes are also available.
